The soft-robotics business is a new challenge for the Bridgestone Group. Using soft robots that can work with people, the group aims to support the safe mobility and movement of people and objects, while addressing social and customer issues such as labor shortages and work automation stemming from declining birthrates and aging populations, and the demand for non-contact interactions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group also hopes to develop in-house entrepreneurs through this challenge. Those who aspire to create new businesses from scratch are driving the project forward as an in-house venture, aiming for early commercialization.
